About Me & CV

About Me:

Greetings!

My name is Maria and I am a senior anthropology major. We anthro's have many interests, which seems to come as baggage in a way. Some specific interests of mine are history, sociology, biology, literature, and the arts. I've grown to like so many disciplines throughout my education that I found myself at a crossroads and unable to separate their connections with anthropology. I chose anthropology spring of my first year in college because of its holistic qualities.

"Bridging the Gap" is a pun on the back-and-forth banter within our discipline describing the "us" and the "other". During the rise of anthropology in the early 19th CE, we were known as the people who studied the exotic ones. All in all, defining anthropology and culture has shifted through the decades with numerous interests arising ever so often. A recent addition is medical anthropology, within the applied studies of the field. Pursuing a career in medical anthropology better outlined my focus in such a wide range of topics.
